Denver police: Man shot, killed after following his stolen vehicle

The man’s stolen vehicle was later recovered in the Montbello neighborhood

Update Jan. 5, 2022: On Dec. 21, the Denver Office of the Medical Examiner identified the victim as Wesley Rosander, 54. He died of a gunshot wound.

A man was shot and killed after he followed his stolen vehicle Sunday in northeast Denver, according to Denver police.

Police officers found the man around 8 a.m. Sunday, fatally shot in the driver’s seat of a van that crashed at E. 40th Avenue and North Chambers Road, according to police.

He was taken to a hospital where he died. He has not been identified.

The man’s stolen vehicle was later recovered in the Montbello area, police said.

A spokesperson for the police department did not immediately return a request for comment Tuesday and it was unclear how the man located his stolen vehicle.
