A man is dead after a police shooting on Thursday morning just outside of Denver, according to the Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office.
The shooting happened at about 7:40 a.m. in the 7500 block of East Harvard Avenue, said John Bartmann, a sheriff’s spokesman.

A deputy spotted a stolen vehicle in the area and a man was inside the vehicle, Bartmann said. The deputy called for backup, and three deputies were on scene when the shooting happened.
Deputies ordered the man out of the vehicle, but he didn’t comply, Bartmann said. The man then backed up the vehicle toward deputies. One deputy fired one shot, hitting the man.
A firearm was found on the man, Bartmann said. That weapon was not fired. A police shooting investigation is ongoing.
