A 14-year-old girl was shot dead and a juvenile male suffered critical injuries in an early morning double shooting in Denver, police said.

The girl was identified Friday as Aerris Mayberry, according to the Denver Office of the Medical Examiner. She died at the scene in the 1900 block of Ulster Street.

Police initially said the shooting scene was in the 8000 block of East Montview Boulevard.

The juvenile male victim was taken to a local hospital and is in critical condition, police said. An investigation is ongoing. Police did not release information on a suspect on Friday.
