If you were hoping for calmer skies after Tuesday’s hurricane-force winds, you’ll be disappointed today. Strong winds and critical fire danger will continue through Thursday across the Front Range.
Wind gusts are expected to be 20-28 mph for most of the day in Denver, with peaks hitting 48 mph Wednesday. Winds will be stronger on the Eastern Plains with gusts up to 63 mph, according to the National Weather Service in Boulder.
Another round of strong, gusty winds and low humidity/dangerous fire weather conditions will occur Wednesday. Strongest winds shift to the eastern plains. Hazardous travel conditions with areas of blowing dust on I-76 and I-70 east of Denver.

Downtown should hit a high of 52 degrees Wednesday, dropping to 29 overnight. Thursday should be very similar with a high of 57 and low of 30 degrees.
The Eastern Plains are under a high-wind warning on top of the red-flag warning most of the state is under due to increased fire risk and low humidity levels.
