Over the past few days in Denver, winds have gusted up to 45 mph, with a 116 mph gust recorded near Fraser. Winds may again reach those speeds on Thursday, kicking up dusting and ripening conditions for fire.
Getting Deja Vu? We understand. The forecast for today will be nearly identical to yesterday. Strong winds and low humidity will create critical fire weather conditions. Let's hope we don't repeat yesterday and have more fires started. We are sick of the fires.

According to the National Weather Service, Denver will reach 57 degrees under sunny skies on Thursday. Winds will increase throughout the day, possibly gusting to 37 mph in the afternoon. A red flag warning is in place for the state’s eastern half, including Denver, until 8 p.m. on Thursday. NWS warns that any fire sparking will likely spread rapidly, and outdoor burning should be avoided due to the strong winds and low humidity. The temperature will fall to 29 degrees overnight in Denver.
Friday should be sunny with a high of 67 degrees. Winds will die down and Friday evening will remain clear with temperatures dropping to 40 degrees.
Winds could gust to 20 mph again on Saturday, but the high could reach 78 degrees, coming a few degrees short of the record high of 81set in 1977.
Forecasters are already eyeing a potentially significant storm system that could affect the metro area on Tuesday and Wednesday, bringing heavy snow to the mountains and possibly to the plains. It’s a little far out in the forecast to tell exactly what this storm could bring, but April snow is normal in Denver.
