Monday clocked in as the wettest calendar day of 2022, according to the National Weather Service in Boulder.
The weather service measured 0.46 inches of rain — just under half an inch — falling Monday, said Zach Hiris, meteorologist at the National Weather Service in Boulder.
While there likely won’t be more rainfall Monday night, Hiris said the next shot for measurable rain is Tuesday night into Wednesday morning and then Wednesday night.
The “cool, wet, unsettled” weather is expected to continue for the next several days, Hiris said.
Denver is expected to reach a high of 40 degrees on Monday afternoon and warm up Tuesday to a high of 67 degrees, according to the National Weather Service.
By Friday, the sun is forecast to peek back out with temperatures around 81 degrees expected.
By this point in the year, Hiris said the Front Range averages around 3.45 inches of rain, which he said we are just about at after Sunday and today’s rain showers.
“Any time we’re getting moisture, it’s a good thing when we’re in a drought like we’re in now,” Hiris said. “I’m not sure how much of a dent that’s going to make to that drought, but the areas that pick up substantial rain where we’ve seen over an inch, it certainly helps. We’ll take all the moisture we can get, that’s for sure.”
