A multi-vehicle accident and the dump of a load of manure at Federal Boulevard and eastbound Interstate 76 closed the highway for a few hours Sunday morning.

Adams County Fire Rescue responded to the accident early Sunday morning. Trooper Josh Lewis said the Colorado State Patrol received the report of the accident at 4:46 a.m.

No one was injured in the multiple-vehicle crash, Lewis said. “We did have a large amount of manure that covered I-76 near (U.S.) 287.”

A semitrailer dumped its load, Lewis said. The highway was reopened around noon.

The cause of the accident was under investigation.
