Power outage hits metro area including southern portion of Commerce City

A power outage hit the metro area on Saturday afternoon, including a large portion of the southside of Commerce City.

At about 4 p.m., Xcel Energy said there was 13 outages impacting 2,896 customers.

Crews were working on restoring power. The outage has downed traffic lights in some areas and parts of the city went on accident alert. There was no immediate report on what caused the outage.

By about 5 p.m. the area outage had been reduced to 17 outages impacting 249 customers.

Just before 6 p.m., Commerce City announced that power had been restored and that the accident alert was canceled.
