The Colorado Rapids have been unable to shake the injury woes in 2022. The latest player to go down is 18-year-old homegrown forward Dantouma “Yaya” Toure, who underwent successful surgery to repair a torn ACL, as well as his lateral and medial meniscus. The injury came in stoppage time against the Columbus Crew on Aug. 13.
He is set to miss the remainder of 2022 and could miss a significant portion of the 2023 season as well.
Toure played five times this season and scored his first professional goal in a 5-4 win over the New York Red Bulls earlier this month. He led Rapids 2 in scoring with eight goals.
Rapids out for the rest of the year are Oliver Larraz (right leg/tibia fracture), Jackson Travis (core muscle), while both Sebastian Anderson and Michael Edwards have missed portions of R2’s season. Braian Galván (ACL, lateral, medial meniscus tear) and Aboubacar Keita (ACL tear) also are out for the year with knee injuries.
The Rapids will travel to Philadelphia to face the Union at 5:30 p.m. Saturday.
