The first day of September is going to be a hot one as temperatures reach up to 93 degrees Thursday.
The above normal temperatures also mean the day will be dry and there is a chance for spotty elevated fire weather conditions in portions of the plains Thursday afternoon.
Wind gusts could reach up to 16 mph in the afternoon.
The National Weather Service has placed the Denver area in the , meaning possible dangers for those who are sensitive to heat, especially those without effective cooling or adequate hydration.
Thursday will be just the start a hot, dry first week of September, and temperatures are expected to stay in the 90s and fire danger could worsen in later days.
Winds on Friday could gust over 20 mph, and the dry weather will continue and bring “near-critical” fire conditions in the plains.
