The Broncos’ punter put in plenty of work in Sunday’s win over San Francisco and now the league’s taken notice.

Corliss Waitman on Wednesday was named the AFC Special Teams Player of the Week after booting 10 punts for 476 yards, including a franchise-record six that were downed inside the 20-yard line and zero touchbacks.

The 27-year-old Belgium native is the fourth Broncos punter to receive the honor, joining Tom Rouen (2001), Micah Knorr (2004) and Todd Sauerbrun (2005). This is the 32nd time a Denver player has received the weekly special teams award and the fifth time in the last three season. Kicker Brandon McManus, who’s won three of those five, was the last recipient for his performance in a 38-10 win over the Lions in Week 14 last year.
