Two men holed up inside a residence in a standoff with Aurora police on Saturday surrendered and were taken into custody. A shelter in place order for nearby residents is lifted.

There was a large police presence near East 12th Avenue and Dallas Street as officers negotiated a resolution, police said on Twitter.

The incident unfolded at about 10:25 a.m. when there was a confrontation about a stolen vehicle and shots were fired, police said. The victim left the immediate area and called 911 for help, police said.

Police said one of the two men has outstanding warrants. The pair surrendered, police said in a 5:27 p.m. tweet,  without further incident. An investigation is ongoing.
