Colorado traffic: Many northeast plains highways still closed Wednesday due to winter storm

Most roads shut down Tuesday in the northeast plains during the severe winter storm that caused blizzard conditions as high winds continue to batter the area.

10:45 a.m.: U.S. 34 has been reopened in both directions from Brush to the Nebraska border.

10:04 a.m.: U.S. 36 has been reopened in both directions from just northeast of Byers to just east of Last Chance.

9:01 a.m: Westbound lanes of Interstate 76 have been reopened between U.S. 6 and Colorado 52.

8:59 a.m.: Westbound Interstate 76 is open from Sterling.

8:50 a.m.: U.S. 6 in the mountains from Interstate 70 on the east side of Loveland Pass to the Arapahoe Basin Ski Area has reopened after an avalanche closed the roadway for several hours.

7:40 a.m.: Interstate 76 is closed in both directions from Hudson to the Nebraska border.

In the mountains, U.S. 6 has closed in both directions from Interstate 70 on the east side of Loveland Pass to the Arapahoe Basin Ski Area due to an avalanche. U.S. 6 is open to the west, from Dillon to Arapahoe Basin.

U.S. 34 eastbound is closed from Weld County Road 61 to just west of Wiggins and closed in both directions from Brush to the Nebraska border.

U.S. 6 is closed from Brush to Sterling and again from east of Sterling to the Nebraska border.

U.S. 36 is closed in both directions from northeast of Byers to just west of Last Chance and again from Last Chance to the Nebraska border.

U.S. 385 is closed between Idalia and Julesburg.

U.S. 138 is closed from Sterling to the Nebraska border.

Colo. 71 northbound is closed from Limon to Last Chance and closed in both directions from Last Chance to the Nebraska border.

Many other state highways in northeast Colorado are also closed: Colo. 14 from Ault to Sterling; Colo. 392 from Lucerne to Briggsdale; Colo. 52 from Hudson to Wiggins and again from Fort Morgan to Raymer; Colo. 113 from Iliff to the Nebraska border; Colo. 59 from Yuma to Sedgwick; Colo. 61 from Otis to Sterling; Colo. 23 from Holyoke to the Nebraska border; Colo. 59 from Seibert to Cope; and Colo. 63 from Akron to Atwood.
