Denver police discovered a girl’s body overnight Sunday and determined she had been killed, the department said.

A “juvenile female” was found dead in the 4900 block of N. Salida Street, police said at 6:55 a.m. Monday. Investigators are treating the case as a homicide.

The body was discovered around 6:17 a.m., police said. It was not immediately clear how the girl died or why police are treating the case as a homicide.

The victim has not been publicly identified. Police spokesman Jay Casillas said she appeared to be “in her teens.”
