The Aurora History Museum is temporarily closed until further notice because of a burst water pipe that caused damage.
The pipe, on the second floor of the ., burst sometime between Dec. 24 and Dec. 27 during a holiday break, and parts of the building were flooded, . Water-damaged areas include the gift shop, offices and collection spaces.
Museum closed for a week or so bc a pipe burst over the holidays. Our priority in circumstances like these is the protection of artifacts and archival material. Luckily, we had an emergency plan in place. Here are some photos of artifacts drying out. We'll keep you posted. Thanks

Exhibit spaces are being used to “mitigate possible damage to our artifacts and archives,” the museum said. “We are currently inventorying and assessing damage to artifacts.”
The museum’s recovery efforts are being assisted by the , a partner of the museum.
“The museum will remain closed until we determine that our facility is safe, and we can have visitors without causing further damage to artifacts,” officials wrote in the post.
Educational programming at the museum is canceled through Sunday. AHM hopes to reopen to the public next week if possible.
