Denver Beer Co. is preparing to open its fourth brewery in the metro area on Saturday, and when it does it will be the company’s biggest.
We’re not just talking about the grand opening party, which starts at noon and includes live music, giveaways and special beer releases. At roughly 9,600 square feet, the location at 7070 E. Lowry Blvd. will boast the beer maker’s largest footprint.
Of that real estate, about 4,200 square feet is dedicated to an indoor taproom and restaurant, plus another 5,400 square feet is devoted to patio space. In all, the new Denver Beer Co. can host up to 485 patrons at a time.
The location in the Lowry neighborhood was what originally enticed founders Patrick Crawford and Charlie Berger to the area, which is further east than its other breweries and adjacent to a small park. The duo previously traveled to Munich to enjoy the German beer gardens and green space – Munich’s renowned English Garden, for example, includes several restaurants serving beer and food – and wanted to open a spot near a park reminiscent of that European style.
“We can’t wait to grab a beer and spend the afternoon tossing a frisbee with friends at the park,” Berger said in a statement. “We are looking forward to hosting fun events such as community block parties, outdoor movie nights, and even yoga in the park. We hope the beer garden will become a central gathering place for folks in the community.”
Drinkers who visit will find DBC staples such as Princess Yum Yum Raspberry Kolsch and Graham Cracker Porter available on draft alongside styles unique to the location, which boasts a 7-barrel brewing system. On opening day, specialty offerings will include the Lowry Lager, Lo-Fi Hazy IPA, Tropic Thunder pale ale with coconut, lime and pineapple, Tripel Threat Belgian tripel, and Lavender Currants Belgian wheat.
The brewery will also have newer, house-made nonalcoholic beverages, such as unflavored and hibiscus hop water, as well as sodas.
DBC opened its original location on Platte Street in 2011 and has been growing rapidly due to “the fact that we’re building communities and people are loving our beers and our experiences,” Berger previously told The Denver Post. In 2020, the brewery produced more than 25,000 barrels of beer, up 301% compared to 2016, according to the Brewers Association.
