A red pickup truck hit a utility power box in Wheat Ridge early Friday and knocked out electricity for some residents.

The driver was taken into custody by police for investigation of suspected driving under the influence of alcohol, according to .

The single-vehicle wreck happened after midnight, causing a large utility box to collapse into a field, knocking out electricity in homes from 4100 to 4900 Field Street near Youngfield, the police announced in a 2:21 a.m. Twitter post.

Utility repair crews were working to restore power for the homes, expected by Friday morning.
