A bicyclist injured in a crash with a vehicle in Denver on July 4 has died, police confirmed Monday.

Police initially reported that the crash near the intersection of South Federal Boulevard and West Virginia Avenue involved a vehicle and a pedestrian. They later determined the injured person was riding a bicycle.

The Denver District Attorney’s Office opted not to press charges against the driver, police said. The bicyclist, identified by the Denver Office of the Medical Examiner as 51-year-old Michael Garduno, was crossing Federal mid-block when a car traveling northbound struck him.

Garduno died from blunt force injuries and his death was ruled an accident, according to the medical examiner.
