Southbound E-470 at Peña Boulevard is open after a tractor-trailer crash closed the highway for most of the afternoon, according to E-470 officials.

A semi-truck crossing the center median caused the crash, breaking through the cable barrier into oncoming traffic and colliding with vehicles headed southbound, E-470 spokesperson Jessica Carson wrote in an email. The crash was first reported at 1:22 p.m., according to the Colorado State Patrol.

The collision closed southbound E-470 but was easily detoured by taking the Peña exit, Carson wrote. All northbound and southbound lanes were fully open as of 5:45 p.m.

One person was transported to the hospital with unknown injuries, according to the Denver Fire Department.
