On Sunday, the Colorado football program lost its quarterback commit for the 2025 class.

On Monday, the Buffaloes lost their quarterback commit for the 2024 class.

Danny O’Neil, a three-star prospect from Cathedral (Ind.) High School, decommitted from the Buffs, just a few weeks before the Dec. 20 signing day.

O’Neil verbally committed to the Buffs on March 21, picking them over Kentucky, Cincinnati, Houston, Illinois, Louisville, Purdue, Syracuse, West Virginia and others. Per 247Sports.com, O’Neil has 19 scholarship offers and that site projects O’Neil will land at Kentucky.

In , O’Neil said he chose CU in large part because of his relationship with offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach Sean Lewis.

“(Lewis and I) just started talking and calling and now I realize that he’s a really good person outside of football, which was something that was huge for me and my family to see,” O’Neil said.

That interview, however, was done before CU head coach Deion Sanders made the decision to take play-calling duties away from Lewis and promote analyst Pat Shurmur into a co-coordinator role with the keys to calling plays.

Following Saturday’s 23-17 loss to Utah in the finale, Sanders said there would be “a few” changes made to the staff and itap unclear if Lewis will be back with the Buffs.

On Sunday, Antwann Hill, a four-star recruit in the 2025 class decided to decommit from the Buffs, only about a month after he gave his verbal pledge to CU.

Hill, from Warner Robins, Ga., originally picked CU from a list of 28 offers that includes Alabama, Florida State, Georgia, Notre Dame, Ole Miss, Penn State and Tennessee.

Colorado currently does not have any quarterback recruits verbally committed.

Also on Monday, running back Jamarice Wilder, CU’s lone remaining class of 2025 pledge, announced he has decommitted from the Buffs. He is a three-star recruit from Venice, Fla., with eight offers who originally committed to CU in August.

This month, CU has lost all three of its 2025 commits: Hill, Wilder and four-star receiver Winston Watkins Jr. (Naples, Fla.). Watkins had committed to CU on Dec. 4, 2022, the day that Sanders was introduced as the Buffs’ head coach.

Fauria transferring

On Monday, tight end Caleb Fauria put his name into the transfer portal as a graduate transfer.

In four seasons at CU, Fauria battled injuries and played in 17 games, including six this season. He was not with the team for the final five games of the season.

Fauria caught three passes for 23 yards in 2022. This year, he didn’t catch any passes, but he scored on a two-point conversion run on Oct. 13 against Stanford. That proved to be his final game with the Buffs.

Fauria has two seasons of eligibility remaining.
