Colorado star Jaylyn Sherrod was named to the late season watch list for the John R. Wooden Award, presented annually to the best player in college women’s basketball.
There were 20 players nationally who made the late season watch list, selected by a poll of national experts. Five players on the list are from the Pac-12, the most by any conference.
A fifth-year senior point guard, Sherrod is averaging 13.9 points, 4.9 assists and 2.3 steals for the sixth-ranked Buffaloes (17-3, 7-2 Pac-12). She’s only the fourth player in CU history with at least 1,000 points and 500 assists in her career. Currently, Sherrod has 1,325 points and 570 assists in her CU career.
Also on the list from the Pac-12 is Lauren Betts of UCLA, Cameron Brink of Stanford, Alissa Pili of Utah and JuJu Watkins from USC.
