Colorado traffic: I-70 eastbound, Peña outbound from DIA close as winter storm hits

A winter storm Tuesday morning has brought heavy snow to the mountains and snow squalls to the Denver metro area, leading to dangerous road conditions and several mountain highways to close, according to the Colorado Department of Transportation.

Update 12:35 p.m.: Colo. 91 between Leadville and I-70 has reopened.

Update 12:15 p.m.: Interstate 70 eastbound in Georgetown has partially reopened. One lane is still closed, according to CDOT.

Update 11:30 a.m.: U.S. 6 at Loveland pass has reopened between Interstate 70 and Montezuma Road.

Update 10:35 a.m.: Peña Boulevard outbound from Denver International Airport is closed at Tower Road due to a crash involving multiple vehicles, .

No serious injuries were reported, according to the department.

The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office reported Colorado 93 northbound and U.S. 285 have reopened. Colorado 93 southbound is still closed.

Update 10:05 a.m.: One of the Interstate 70 eastbound closures — between Avon and Vail — has reopened.

Update 9:50 a.m.:

Interstate 70 eastbound has a second closure, this one caused by a crash, between Avon and U.S. 6 near Vail, according to CDOT.

Colorado 93 is also closed due to a crash between 64th Parkway and Colorado 72, according to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office.

Closures as of 9:25 a.m.:

Interstate 70 eastbound is closed between Exit 228, CR 381, and Georgetown and Exit 232, U.S. 40 due to safety concerns.

U.S. 6 eastbound at Loveland Pass is closed between Montezuma Road and Interstate 70 due to safety concerns.

Colorado 91 is closed in both directions between Leadville and Interstate 70 near Copper Mountain due to safety concerns.

U.S. 285 southbound is closed near Conifer due to a jack-knifed tractor-trailer, according to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office.
