Suspect faces attempted homicide, assault charges in incident that shut down Aurora’s Smoky Hill Road Saturday

A man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted homicide and first-degree assault after an incident that shut down Smoky Hill Road Saturday morning in Aurora.

During the investigation that shut down Smoky Hill Road for an hour Saturday, police officers arrested a 29-year-old man for attempted homicide and aggravated assault, .

Paramedics transported a 53-year-old woman to a local hospital in serious condition, the sheriff’s office stated. No information was available on the relationship between the two.

Smoky Hill Road was closed between South Biscay Circle and South Danube Street around 11 a.m., The road reopened just before noon.
