A person has died and four others were injured Tuesday evening after a multi-vehicle crash on Interstate 25 in Thornton, according to the Thornton Police Department.

The crash, which briefly closed I-25 at 136th Avenue, still being investigated but it is believe to have been caused by a driver that went the wrong way in a northbound lane, said Officer Joe Walker, spokesman for the police department.

The driver, an adult man died in the crash, he said.

Four other people were taken to a local hospital. The severity of their injuries were unclear as a spokesperson for the police department could not immediately be reached Wednesday morning.
