Colorado drivers should prepare for snowy, icy conditions on mountain roads Thursday, according to the National Weather Service.

Light snow started in the mountains Wednesday afternoon and continued overnight into Thursday , quickly covering the roads.  posted by NWS meteorologists from Boulder on Thursday morning show sections of Interstate 70 , U.S. 40 , Colorado 91 and U.S. 285 covered in snow and ice.

U.S. 6 was still closed over Loveland Pass because of safety concerns as of 6:40 p.m., . The pass closure runs from I-70 to mile marker 229 near Grizzly Peak

in the area of the closure showed completely snow-covered roads and windy, white-out conditions.

U.S. 285 is also closed in both directions between Grant and Fairplay because of blowing snow and adverse driving conditions, CDOT officials said Thursday night.
