Thursday morning snow created icy and hazardous travel conditions and closed highways for crashes and weather-related safety concerns, according to the Colorado Department of Transportation.

Interstate 70 reopened at around 5 p.m. east of Denver International Airport to Burlington after an hourslong closure for “adverse weather conditions,”  .

nearly all major highways between Burlington and E-470 near DIA are closed because of the weather. Side roads are in even worse shape and shouldn’t be used to get around the closures.

Other road closures as of 8:20 p.m. include:

  • westbound between Limon and Kit Carson;
  • between Burlington and U.S. 36;
  • between Limon and Ordway;
  • between Kiowa and I-70.

This is a developing story and may be updated.
