After spotting a joey popping its head out of Adelaide’s pouch, announced an exciting birth the first marsupial born in its new . The joey is Adelaide’s firstborn.
Animal caretakers can’t tell the exact birthday of wallabies because as soon as they are born, the jelly-bean-sized young quickly crawl into their mother’s pouch, where they will develop for 12-17 months.
The zoo estimates that this joey was born around Sept. 1.
The zoo reports the joey has been seen peeking out more, which means it’s becoming more curious about the world and getting closer to moving out of Adelaide’s pouch.
