2 found dead inside burning Thornton home suspected as arson

A 58-year-old woman and 55-year-old man were found dead inside the home with gunshot wounds

Two people who had been shot were found dead inside a Thornton home on May 14 that investigators believe was intentionally set on fire, police said.

Thornton police officers and fire crews responded at about 11:15 p.m. May 14 to reports of a structure fire in the 16300 block of Columbine Street, in the Orchard Farms subdivision, .

Firefighters found two people dead inside the home with gunshot wounds, identified by the Adams County Coroner’s Office as 58-year-old Kendra Sue Anderson and 55-year-old Chad Philip Anderson. The cause and manner of their deaths remain under investigation.

Thornton police on May 16 confirmed and said detectives were still working to gather information about a suspect.

Investigators believe the fire was arson, but the exact cause and circumstances remain under investigation. The fire was contained to one home and extinguished before midnight.

Police officials said there is no ongoing threat to the community.
