More than 1,300 DIA flights delayed, canceled during spring snow

An April snowstorm sweeping across Colorado on Friday delayed or canceled more than 1,300 flights at Denver International Airport.

The airport is under a traffic management program for snow and ice, delaying arriving flights by an average of 3 hour and 18 minutes, according to the

Southwest Airlines flights made up nearly a third of those impacted, including 376 delays and 32 cancellations,

There were 23 canceled and 63 delayed Frontier flights, while SkyWest reported 37 cancellations and 278 delays.

Other delays include 384 on United, 36 on Delta, 25 on American and smaller numbers of flights on Aer Lingus, AeroMexico, Air Canada, Alaska Airlines, Allegiant Air, Key Lime Air, Lufthansa, Volaris and Sun Country Airlines.

The ongoing snowstorm is expected to drop up to 5 inches of snow in Denver through Saturday morning and as much of a foot of snow at higher elevations, causing intermittent highway closures.
