A 20-year-old woman was killed in a crash after she exited Interstate 25 in Thornton on Wednesday morning, according to police.

The woman drove down the northbound I-25 offramp at East 84th Avenue around 7:45 a.m., then attempted to turn left and head west on East 84th. As she turned, she collided with a Jeep that was headed east on East 84th, according to a police news release.

The 51-year-old Jeep driver was not hurt and he stayed at the scene, police said. The 20-year-old woman was taken to a hospital, where she died. She has not been publicly identified.

Kylynn McTague, a spokeswoman for the police department, said Monday that it was too soon to know whether drugs or alcohol influenced the crash. The police investigation is ongoing, she said.
