Nearly 900 flights delayed at DIA after morning snow

Nearly 900 flights headed in and out of Denver International Airport were delayed after snow dusted the city early Sunday morning.

By the time the last plane took off from DIA on Sunday, 874 flights had been delayed and 16 had been canceled, according to flight tracking software . No ground stops or ground delays were in effect Sunday evening, according to the .

Roughly 2.2 inches of snow accumulated at DIA by 11 a.m. Sunday, according to snowfall maps from the .

Other parts of the metro area reported between 1/2 inch and 3.5 inches of snow, the map showed.

Southwest delayed the most flights at DIA on Sunday at 297, followed by 239 United flights, 168 SkyWest flights, 71 Frontier flights, 33 American Airlines flights, 28 Delta flights and 11 Key Lime Air flights, according to FlightAware. Seven other airlines delayed between one and nine flights.

Delta canceled five flights on Sunday, and Frontier canceled 3, according to FlightAware. United, SkyWest, Air Canda and Canadian regional airline Jazz each canceled two flights.
