All-American receiver Danny Scudero is coming to Boulder.

On Sunday morning, it was announced that the former San Jose State star, who is visiting the Colorado campus this week, verbally committed to the Buffs and head coach Deion Sanders.

Also on Sunday, running back Jaquail Smith (Sacramento State), edge rusher Balansama Kamara (Albany), defensive lineman Dylan Manuel (Appalachian State) and safety Naeten Mitchell (New Mexico State) announced they are joining the herd, as well.

Scudero led the nation with 1,291 receiving yards this season; was a semifinalist for the Biletnikoff Award, which goes to the top receiver in the country; and earned Associated Press second-team All-American honors.

He also earned AFCA, Walter Camp and CBS Sports second-team All-American honors, and he was first-team All-Mountain West Conference.

The 5-foot-9, 174-pound Scudero caught 88 passes this season, scoring 10 touchdowns and averaging 14.7 yards per catch for San Jose State. He had six 100-yard games, including 215 yards and two touchdowns on seven catches against Hawaii on Nov. 1.

Scudero, who has two years of eligibility remaining, began his college career at Sacramento State. He redshirted in 2023 and then caught 53 passes for 667 yards and five touchdowns for the Hornets in 2024.

Smith announced his verbal commitment Sunday, as well, as he will be reunited with new CU offensive coordinator Brennan Marion, who was Sacramento State’s head coach this past season.

As a true freshman this season, the 5-11, 171-pound Smith was third on Sac State’s team in rushing, with 511 yards and five touchdowns on 76 carries in eight games. His 6.7 yards per carry led the team and he posted four 100-yard games.

Smith is the second Hornets running back to commit to CU, as Damian Henderson II committed Saturday. Henderson was second on the team with 565 rushing yards and five touchdowns.

The 6-3, 257-pound Kamara recorded 67 tackles, 13.5 tackles for loss, 7.5 sacks, seven QB hurries and three forced fumbles for the Great Danes this year. He earned first-team all-conference honors in the Coastal Athletic Association, along with Monmouth edge Lamont Lester, Jr., who committed to CU on Saturday.

Kamara, who has one year of eligibility remaining, played two seasons (2021-22) at Temple and one at Hutchinson (Kansas) Community College before playing the past two years at Albany.

Manuel, listed at 6-1, 300 pounds, recorded 37 tackles, seven tackles for loss, three sacks and an interception at Appalachian State this year. He started seven games for the Mountaineers.

In 2024, Manuel played at Charleston Southern, posting 15 tackles, 4.5 tackles for loss and two sacks, earning second-team FCS freshman All-American honors by Phil Steele. He comes to CU with two years of eligibility remaining.

Mitchell earned second-team All-Conference USA honors this season at New Mexico State. The 5-10, 175-pound safety led the Aggies with 93 tackles, while adding three interceptions, six pass breakups and four forced fumbles.

Mitchell spent three seasons at NMSU, redshirting in 2023 and appearing in nine games in 2024, posting nine tackles.

So far, CU has added nine players in the transfer portal, including four that committed Saturday night: Henderson, Lester, receiver Kam Perry (Miami-Ohio), and defensive end Yamil Talib (Charlotte).

On Sunday night, CU receiver Terrell Timmons Jr. announced that he is entering the transfer portal. He has spent the past two seasons with the Buffs, playing in 13 games and catching seven passes for 80 yards. He began his career with two seasons at North Carolina State and enters the portal with one season of eligibility remaining.
