Light snow across the Denver metro was expected to clear by mid-morning Friday, though near-freezing temperatures were expected to continue throughout the day.
Meteorologist Kenley Bonner expected less than an inch of snow to accumulate across the city and suburbs Friday morning, with the foothills seeing as much as two inches of snowfall.
“Looks like we are getting one final push right now, and then it is diminishing after this,” she said at about 6 a.m. The National Weather Service at Boulder issued a hazardous weather alert that warned of slick roads across the metro through about 11 a.m.

Colorado road conditions
Drivers across Denver reported icy and snowy conditions on roads Friday morning. Interstate 70 eastbound saw a two-lane closure near Exit 276A at Steele Street for a crash, with a 15-minute delay reported. That closure was lifted by 7:30 a.m.
A semi-truck between Morrison Road and Parmalee Gulch Road closing the road until about 8:30 a.m., according to the Colorado Department of Transportation and the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office. The driver of the truck was cited for careless driving; the vehicle was not equipped with chains, but chains were not required under state law in Friday morning’s conditions, according to Colorado State Patrol.
A stalled vehicle closed a single center lane on Interstate 25 southbound between Downing Street and University Boulevard.
Gusty winds were also expected Friday that could cause blowing snow and visibility issues on Interstate 70 east of Denver, Bonner said.
Denver police went on crash alert Friday morning, meaning the officers only responded to more serious crashes.
Friday weather forecast
Temperatures around the freezing mark should continue through the day, and roads could refreeze Friday evening, Bonner said. Denver was forecasted for a high temperature of 34 degrees Friday before sinking into the teens overnight.
The city will see a slight warm up over the weekend, with high temperatures in the mid-40s Saturday and mid-50s on Sunday coupled with sunny skies.
