Fire danger from high winds and temperatures continues Friday and Saturday in Colorado

Snow could briefly return to the Front Range corridor late Saturday night

Denver could see as the Front Range faces another few days of high winds and temperatures, plus low humidity, before wintry weather returns late Saturday.

Friday’s high temperature is expected to reach 72 degrees, two degrees lower than the record high for that was last tied in 2012. Saturday’s high is forecast to be 75 degrees, three degrees off the record set in 1935.

A , indicating a danger of wind-driven spread of any wildfires that spark, will be in effect from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday for most of the Front Range and Eastern Plains, according to the National Weather Service.

As of Thursday evening, the warnings included parts of Adams, Arapahoe, Boulder, Broomfield, Denver, Douglas, Elbert, Jefferson, Larimer, Lincoln, Logan, Morgan, Washington and Weld counties.

Wind gusts of up to 50 mph and humidity values as low as 10% are forecast for much of northern Colorado, according to the weather service.

On Saturday, a fire weather watch will be in effect from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Winds could gust as high as 60 mph that day.

But Saturday could also see snow, with the high winds accompanying a fast-moving cold front, according to the weather service. The Interstate 25 corridor could see light snow accumulation late that night and early Sunday morning. A few inches of accumulation in the mountains are possible.

The wintry conditions will be short-lived, as forecasters expect a quick warmup to bring record heat by the middle of next week.
