A summer-like heatwave is headed for Denver this week, with both entering the forecast, according to the National Weather Service.
As of Monday, , Denver’s forecast included highs of:
- 72 degrees on Tuesday, four degrees below the city’s March 17 record of 76 degrees set in 2012.
- 79 degrees on Wednesday, three degrees below the March 18 record of 82 degrees set in 1907.
- 82 degrees on Thursday, which would break the March 19 record of 81 degrees set in 1907.
- 85 degrees on Friday, which would break the March 20 record of 80 degrees set in 1907. A high of 85 degrees would also mark Denver’s hottest March temperature on record, beating the previous record of 84 degrees from 1971.
- 85 degrees on Saturday, which would break the March 21 record of 78 degrees set in 1995.
On average, Denver first sees “normal” temperatures in the 80s starting in June, .
Denver temperatures are expected to drop more than 15 degrees between Saturday and Sunday, when a high of 69 degrees is forecast, according to the weather service. While that may seem cooler by comparison, it’s still 11 degrees above Denver’s “normal” 58-degree high for March 22, .
