Denver police arrested a man on investigation of murder Wednesday after a suspected road rage shooting in the city’s Montbello neighborhood left another man dead, according to the agency.

Lavon Ellis Wedgeworth, 44, was arrested on investigation of first-degree murder in the shooting, . As of Thursday morning, the man was being held in Denver’s Downtown Detention Center, .

Denver officers responded to the shooting in the 12400 block of East 42nd Avenue just before 11:45 a.m. Tuesday, according to the police department.

When they arrived, officers found one man who had been shot three times, police said. Paramedics took the man to the hospital, where he died from his injuries.

The victim will be identified by the Denver Office of the Medical Examiner.

Surveillance video showed the suspect’s vehicle, a gray Jeep Grand Cherokee, force the victim’s vehicle to a stop on the side of the road before the shooting, according to Wedgeworth’s arrest affidavit. The Jeep had chrome wheels, black license plates and a bike rack on top.

A Jeep matching that description was found at an address several blocks away, police said in the affidavit. Both the vehicle and the address appear to be registered to Wedgeworth, according to the affidavit.

The victim was shot three times, but only two casings were found at the scene, police said. A casing discovered in the Jeep’s backseat matched the two found near the victim.

In addition to the casing, several guns and live ammunition were discovered in the Jeep, according to the affidavit. Investigators also found suspected blood on the steering wheel and the rear passenger side wheel.

An anonymous video sent to police on Wednesday appeared to show Wedgeworth and an unidentified man fighting with the victim after forcing him to pull over, the affidavit stated. The group stopped fighting, and Wedgeworth appeared to pull out a gun and shoot the victim, who was raising his hands, three times. A copy of the video was not available.
