
Cool, wet conditions will continue across metro Denver for the next couple of days ahead of an expected weekend warm-up, as significant snow is forecast for the Colorado mountains beginning Wednesday night and through Thursday.
The says scattered mountain snow showers are expected Wednesday, with widespread snowfall starting late at night and lasting through Thursday.
Three to 10 inches of snow are expected in the mountains with the heaviest south of Interstate 70, stretching into Friday, according to the weather service.
In metro Denver, forecasters expect a chance of showers Wednesday with thunderstorms possible after noon. Conditions will be mostly cloudy with a high of 48 and an overall 50% chance of rain during the day, rising to 60% overnight as temperatures fall to 40 degrees.
There’s an 80% chance of rain on Thursday, according to the National Weather Service, as highs top out at around 47 degrees during the day and fall to 37 at night.
Friday again sees a 50% chance of rain and a high near 56.
But the sun is expected to return Saturday and Sunday in metro Denver, with highs forecast to reach 58 and 73, respectively.
