A Parker man will spend several decades of his life in prison for drugging and sexually assaulting women he met through dating apps, court records show.

Douglas County District Court Judge Victoria Ellen Klingensmith sentenced 57-year-old David Kats on Tuesday to 36 years to life in prison after he was convicted by a Douglas County jury in December on 17 felony charges, including 12 counts of sexual assault, according to court records.

During the Tuesday morning sentencing hearing, “the victims detailed how Kats drugged and manipulated them — one victim describing how she woke up covered in bruises and bitemarks,” a stated.

Kats assaulted four women between 2015 and 2023, prosecutors said. Each of the four testified that they blacked out after being served drinks by Kats and later realized they had been sexually assaulted.

“For nearly a decade, the entitled behavior of this sexual predator went unchecked,” Deputy District Attorney Brynn Chase stated in the release. “What these four women endured to bring this serial rapist to justice shows why so many victims choose to stay silent. Their decision to come forward made justice possible.”
