Thornton police were investigating threats made against two city facilities on Tuesday and evacuated the buildings “as a precaution,” according to the department.
The Thornton City Pool, 2141 E. 95th Ave., and the Margaret W. Carpenter Recreation Center, 11151 Colorado Blvd., were both evacuated, . Officials did not specify what threats were made against either facility.
“Please avoid both areas to allow officers to work,” police said on social media. “Both facilities are expected to be closed for the remainder of the day.”
Families and children evacuated from the pool can , 2211 Eppinger Blvd., police said. Those evacuated from the recreation center can reunite at the Harley Brown Amphitheater, 3498 E. 112th Ave.
