Aurora – Police are searching for a suspect in a fatal stabbing, as well as answers in the mysterious and unrelated deaths of a husband and wife.

All three deaths were discovered within minutes late Thursday morning.

At 11:10 a.m., police were called to an apartment complex in the 1500 block of Alton Street, where they found a man bleeding in an alley with stab wounds to the chest. The man, whose name was not released, was taken to a hospital, where he later died.

Later, police identified Omar Marquez Castaneda, 29, as a possible suspect. Castaneda was last seen driving a mid-1980s red Ford van or pickup with Colorado license tag 673-DIZ.

About a half hour after police received the stabbing call, they got a call from a concerned relative of a couple who live at the High Hollows condominiums on East Exposition Avenue near Havana Street. When police arrived, they found the couple, a 45-year-old man and a 47-year- old woman, dead in separate areas of their home.

Aurora police Sgt. Rudy Herrera said there were no signs of trauma to the victims or of forced entry. Firefighters found carbon-monoxide levels above average but not in the lethal range, Herrera said.

Police are still treating the couple’s deaths as homicides.
