There’s a potential for severe weather in the metro area through tonight. A tornado watch is in effect until 8 p.m. from Interstate 25 to the east.
However, northeast Colorado is going to get the brunt of the storms, 9News forecaster Kathy Sabine says.
Scattered strong thunderstorms will continue to develop north of the city and move southeast across the plains tonight ahead of a slow moving cold front. Look for heavy rain, damaging wind, deadly lightning and large hail with these storms, Sabine says.
Isolated tornadoes have already been reported near Akron and Fort Morgan.
The temperature will drop to the mid 60s by 9 p.m. in the metro area and will dip down to the upper 40s overnight.
Wednesday with the passage of the cold front, it will be cloudy and cooler with a few sprinkles and afternoon temperatures in the mid 60s. Quiet and mild weather is forecast for Thursday and Friday with partly sunny skies and highs in the upper 60s and lower 70s.
Across the state’s higher terrain today, look for scattered showers and thunderstorms early then clearing with lows in the 40s and 50s. The forecast for the mountains Wednesday calls for partly sunny skies with highs in the 70s.
