Mesa Laboratory programs|The Mesa Lab, a working research laboratory at the west end of Table Mesa Drive in Boulder, has a free visitor center that is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays and from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekends. Free guided tours are offered at noon daily throughout the summer. The visitor center has a climate exhibit, an eclipse telescope, working supercomputers, a gravity well and hands-on demonstrations of lightning, tornadoes and fluid dynamics. Guided hikes|Interpreter Ron Claussen will lead a hike in Castlewood Canyon State Park’s East Canyon Preservation Area, which is only accessible on naturalist-led hikes. Native plants and wildflowers festival|A native plants and wildflowers festival will be from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. June 11 and 12 at the Lookout Mountain Nature Center. The festival will feature information on Colorado’s weeds, ways to incorporate low-water plants into your home landscaping, guided tours of native gardens and trails, and activities for adults and children.
