Anyone who bought “cake batter” ice cream from Cold Stone Creamery stores should take it back because the ice cream could be contaminated with salmonella, according to the state health department.
No one has gotten sick from the ice cream in Colorado, but there have been reports of illness in Minnesota, Washington, Oregon and Idaho.
Salmonella typhimurium is a bacteria that can cause symptoms such as fever, headache, vomiting, nausea and diarrhea. The infection can be serious or even fatal in very young children, the elderly and people with weakened immune systems.
People who have the ice cream can return it to the store for a full refund.
