With any luck, El Paseante, a 26-foot- tall inflatable sculpture by Colombian artist Nadín Ospina delayed in Miami customs last week, will have at last made its way to the Chicano Humanities and Arts Council’s Chile Harvest Festival at the Denver Botanic Gardens’ kickoff of Hispanic Heritage Month. But even if the enormous Pop Art interpretation of a pre- Columbian icon is missing, there are plenty of other ways to celebrate Spanish- speaking cultures that embrace the chile: Flamenco guitarist Nesa plays at 11 a.m., mariachi players come on at 2 p.m., and world-renowned weaver and storyteller Eppie Archuleta spins tales all day.
