
Aimon Alkanani graduated in the spring from Cherry Creek’s Eaglecrest High School in Centennial with high academic honors and a 3.91 weighted grade-point average.
A Scout since he was 6, Aimon completed his Eagle Scout project this year after he organized cleaning of the prayer areas at the Islamic Center of Ahl-Al-Beit. He also renovated the outside window irons to prevent future vandalism to the center.
This year, Aimon completed an 11-week course of Emergency Medical Technician training and finished at the top of his class.
He also finished his fourth summer at Peaceful Valley Scout Camp in Elbert County. In the past, he has been a leader for the younger Scouts and worked on the fire crew as well as for the medical services team.
When 79 Boy Scouts at the camp were stricken in July with the Norwalk virus, Aimon put his EMT training to use and became the camp medic after the main medic also fell ill.
Aimon attended the National Youth Leadership Forum on Medicine after being nominated by one of his teachers and has taken Arabic classes from University College at the University of Denver.
This fall, Aimon is taking premed courses at the University of Colorado. He will pursue a career in pediatric emergency medicine.
