What’s so funny about animals and/or high school dropouts?
Aside from their endearing neediness and their overall potential, respectively, lots!
But that’s probably not the material that celebrated Denver-based vet and standup comic Dr. Kevin Fitzgerald (yeah! The guy with the ‘stache!) of Animal Planet’s “Emergency Vets” intended to use, since he’ll be emceeing for the likes of Jake Johannsen tonight at Comedy Works in a benefit effort with Colorado Youth for a Change.
They’ll be onstage to encourage school dropouts to return to school. To graduate. To go to vet school. And then to grow a moustache.
Appetizers, drinks, silent auction, comedy.
What: Colorado Youth for a Change Benefit at Comedy Works
Where: 1226 15th Street, 6:30 p.m.
Cost: $35

Pioneers we are.
But while we are pioneers and sport an entire suburb devoted to technology, an international airport and an expanding interstate highway system, we still know how to party, pioneer-style.
Woodworking is still a detailed trade and prominent hobby, since magazines and old computer parts aren’t exactly considered heirlooms or nice property value raisers.
If you’re into (one of) the oldest professions, Rockler Woodworking and Hardware offers demonstrations and workshops that are free and open to the public. So if you’re looking to sharpen your lathe skills (…get it?), fell free to peruse the website to see if their resources fit your woodworking needs.
Tonight, watch a demonstration on using a jig to quickly and easily create beautiful through dovetails. If you even know what this means, this is your workshop.
What: Rockler Woodworking & Hardware demonstrations and workshops
Where: 2553 S Colorado Blvd, Suite 108, 6 p.m.

Cyber Squirrel. Circuitboard Gorilla. Digital Monkey.
The animals are loose on Market Street – running rampant in the streets and terrorizing tourists and locals alike.
Luckily, Mario’s Double Daughters Solatto has offered a safe haven on Wednesdays – Electronic Animal Refuge (EAR) featuring the DJs mentioned above and $3.50 wines and $4.50 depth chargers.
It’s safe to come out now.
What: EAR at Mario’s Double Daughters
Where: 1632 Market Street, 9 p.m.
