Grand Junction’s Ritter commits to Rams

Raysha Ritter of Grand Junction High School, a 6-foot-3 post player who led her team to the Elite Eight last season, has made an oral commitment to Colorado State, according to her summer club team coach, Carl Mattei of Regis High School.

Mattei said Ritter chose CSU over Colorado, Penn State, Illinois and Wyoming. A second-team all-state selection by The Denver Post as a junior, Ritter averaged 18.6 points and 9.8 rebounds last season.

Milstead-Koch duo leads Pro-Pro event

Barry Milstead of Valley Country Club and Stewart Koch of Riverdale Golf Club topped the first round of the Colorado PGA Rockies Pro-Pro Championship at the Red Sky Golf Club Norman Course in Wolcott with a 13-under-par 59. George Kahroff of Sonnenalp Golf Club and David Lopez of Beaver Creek Golf Club are second at 62.

CSU women golfers tied for 12th in tourney

The Colorado State women’s golf team finished the first round of the Branch Law Firm/Dick McGuire Invitational in Albuquerque tied with BYU in 12th place with a 302 total. Ohio State leads with a 287. The Rams’ Chelsea Benton finished the first round tied for 11th place with a 72 and Megan Chapman shot a 74, tied for 25th.

Nuggets-Hornets date changed

The Nuggets’ Oct. 24 preseason game against the New Orleans Hornets has been changed to Oct. 23 and will be played at the Ford Center in Oklahoma City.
