Foxborough, Mass. – Brian Ching and Dwayne DeRosario scored second-half goals as the Western Conference-leading San Jose Earthquakes defeated the Eastern Conference-leading New England Revolution 2-0 on Saturday night.

San Jose (17-4-9) extended its unbeaten streak to 12 matches, having allowed just seven goals in that span. New England (16-7-7) lost at home for just the second time in 15 matches.

Carson, Calif. – Herculez Gomez scored twice as Los Angeles (13-12-6) moved into second place in the Western Conference, holding a two-point edge over Dallas (12-10-7) with one game left.

East Rutherford, N.J. – D.C. United (15-9-5) scored four times in the second half – including Ben Olsen’s first two goals of the season to clinch an Eastern Conference playoff berth.

The loss also snapped an 11-game unbeaten streak at home for the MetroStars (10-9-10).

Kansas City, Mo. – Thiago scored from 22 yards out in the 66th minute giving Chicago (15-11-3) its first win in four games against Kansas City (11-9-10) this season.

Chivas USA 1, Crew 0

Columbus, Ohio – Francisco Palencia scored in the 59th minute as Chivas USA (4-21-5) won for the first time since beating New England on July 22.

The loss eliminated Columbus (10-15-4) from postseason contention.
