The Denver Rescue Mission, which earlier this month was in dire need of turkey donations to meet its demands for this year’s holiday season, has exceeded its goal of 4,000 frozen birds.

The Daniels Fund, a philanthropic foundation established by cable pioneer Bill Daniels, donated 1,000 turkeys Friday.

Now the mission has received close to 4,300 turkeys this season after an unusually slow start.

Turkeys can still be dropped off through Thanksgiving, however, and will be distributed to organizations that provided a “Turkey Wish List” to the mission.

Drop-off sites and times include:

  • Denver Rescue Mission, 1130 Park Avenue West in downtown Denver, daily from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
  • Ministry Outreach Center, 3501 E. 46th Ave.; and The Crossing, 8090 Smith Road, both Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
