The year 2005 went out with a bang weather-wise on Saturday as a new high-temperature record of 66 degrees was set for Denver on the last day of the year – one degree higher than the previous record, set in 1904.

Today, temperatures are expected to be moderate on the Front Range, with highs in the low 50s. New Year’s Day will see cloudy skies and a 30 percent chance of showers, according to the National Weather Service.

In the mountains, however, snow continues to fall. A new storm is expected to bring up to 10 inches of snow. The storm will produce blowing snow, with wind gusts of up to 50 miles per hour and high temperatures in the 20s.
